Sharmeen Obaid’s ‘a Girl in the River’ Wins Best International Television Award

Internationally famous Pakistani filmmaker and director Sharmeen Obaid has awarded Oscar two times that makes a history. She has awarded with International television award for the Prize of Forgiveness. She got this award for her film “The Girl in The River”.

Many films are nominated for this particular award and the announcement is held on 6 May in New York in the 49th annual Robert F Canady Journalism awards. She is the first Pakistani women that win the award. The ceremony for the award will be held on 23 May in Washington DC.

She also wins the 88th Oscar Award and Columbia University award 2016. And she is also the first Pakistani who wins the “Saving Face”  Oscar award in 2012. She is on 11th number worldwide in women that win the award for a non fiction film.

Sharmeen Obaid said that she work for different issues that are within us but we didn’t take them seriously. The subject of the film is not only tough but also political that makes me think a lot before its making. She said that her team is also in the part of my success and work in every type of difficult situation. I and my team will keep making this type of films in future.
